The Print Shop, 125-127 Harvard Street, Cambridge, MA
The Real Estate Operations Department is hard at work on the construction of The Print Shop, twenty-four (24) affordable condominium units. The Print Shop is named after a printing business formerly located at the site on Harvard St. in Cambridge; right behind the vintage clothing store The Garment District.
Last summer, Cascap demolished the existing vacant warehouses to make way for the construction of the affordable one, two and three-bedroom condominiums. The building will be completed in this fall and all units will be sold through the City of Cambridge’s lottery system for income eligible first time home buyers.
The Print Shop is designed by award winning architect Americo Andrade, and is being built by Construction By Design (CBD) led by Dan Baker. The Print Shop is a four story modern design building, with a metal tile exterior and a glass tile wall on the top floors of the Harvard St. façade.
Cascap is committed to incorporating green design and construction practices in our developments, and is particularly excited that The Print Shop will be LEED certified. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is a rating system for developing high performance buildings. To reduce energy and operating costs, The Print Shop will have high efficiency heating and cooling systems, a photovoltaic system for generating electricity from the sun, and super insulation of the roof and walls.
This fall, twenty-four first time home buyers will be able to move into their new, affordable and green homes. With a small carbon footprint and large utility bill savings, new condominium owners should be as thrilled as we are.
